Hi jad thanks for the feedback.

The ball physics is identical to the default Classic map (in fact I took this map and just added the logo). The one you are used to is what we call the "HBANZ ball". I'm still on the fence which one to keep but I have explained why I chose to go with this ball for now in the OP. Basically we are the only ones in the world using the HBANZ ball and it was originally intended to make passing and wall moves easier for team work, so in 1 vs 1 the reasons for this ball are less relevant. You will notice it is slightly heavier, bouncier and carries more momentum. I believe it will be easier to bus with the HBANZ ball even though it is slightly smaller.

For now I will keep this ball unless other people feel the same way as you do.

Ratings should go down by 10 points a day and up by 1 point for every game played to encourage activity, room is always dead

Hi everyone,

Just to keep you all updated, the following features have been coded into the bot since initial launch (some are already pushed to the current room, some not yet):
 
  1. ELO Categories/Tiers - each with its own colour - thanks @Vipa for creating the table (found on the ELO page: https://hbanz.org/forum/elo.php)
  2. In-game team colours to also be applied accordingly, based on the players ELO Tier
  3. Recording match statistics - database and the upload code created and tested, and a separate page for this was also made but not yet launched
  4. Replays will also be recorded in the match statistics table - minor fixes still to be made
  5. Enhanced ELO page with drop-down/expandable tables for Rules, Tiers, Calculator and Replays
  6. Limited the maximum accepted challenges a player can have to 2 (if you are currently in a game that has just started, you can accept the third one.. so I think this is enough to prevent huge queues)
  7. AFK time reduced from 45 seconds to 30 seconds, with the warning after 20 seconds
  8. Possession statistics recorded and calculated
  9. Draws added at the 5 minute mark, with +0 change to either player
Pending updates we are working on:
 
  1. Clicking on a player on ELO pages should filter to show all of the matches they have played, along with the match results and replays
  2. Adding possession to match stats page (currently recorded but to be uploaded to the database)
  3. Further testing to be done with draws/players leaving. There were cases of people suddenly getting -37 ELO, so need to make sure this never happens in the final version
  4. As Jad suggested, I will reduce the ELO gradually (maybe not as much as 10 points a day but more like 1 per day) for inactivity, and reward some based on games played
  5. ELO will be reset when all of the above has been ironed out
  6. Chats do not show in the replays during testing, this is due to the !mute function which bypasses the global chat. I will have to remove this feature (I don't think people use it anyway) to enable us to see chats in the recordings
I think the ELO formula will remain the same. To me it seems fair and motivates players to score more goals than settle for a 1-0 win, especially if their rating is above the others as their gain will be small.

Thanks @jad for the feedback and suggestions. I encourage others to also feel free to suggest updates they would like to see (additional stats, bot commands, etc.). I've seen some creative bot features in other rooms that would be nice to see in ours (that are not abusable of course).

will this show games that were played prior to update? I have some really nasty wins over Deloving, Deco and Iggy Azalea that i'd like to flex

Lol sorry no, the room that is up right now doesn't record any match history (just player stats).

Maybe when the update comes you can get some nasty wins over Kuma, dopesayo and July instead xD

Updated ELO bot launched!

Updates are:
  1. Reset all stats, ELO, replays, match history
  2. Updated look of the ELO main page with colours: https://hbanz.org/forum/elo.php
  3. Created the match history page with replays recorded: https://hbanz.org/forum/eloreplays.php
  4. Possession, game duration, ELO change and new ELO are some of the additional stats recorded
  5. Direct replay link is announced in game after a match, rather than to the general page
  6. Regular messages now appear in replays, (except for tagged messages which we can't do much about)
  7. ELO reduces by 1 each day if you are above 1200
Pending (non-urgent):
  1. Discord announcements - we have a way to now link bots with discord channel to announce the outcome of games. Right now I don't see the huge value-add in this but it is doable
  2. Clicking a player on the ELO Replays pages to filter all matches from that player, along with the match results and replays

Damn I've been sleeping on this, amazing work. Would it be possible to implement H2H record against each player with a command in room?, that would be a great feature to have.

It has come to my attention that @PANDAMIC and peanut ("@pandafreelo") have been farming "free elo".

By the end of today I will be resetting PANDA's stats, as well as deleting pandafreelo account. If either of you would like to appeal please do so in this thread before the end of today.

I am writing in this public thread rather than PM you individually so that other players will see the consequences of ELO farming on fake accounts.

What are the rules on farming? Like is there a limit on how many times you can beat Maxie & Fank?
